I feel that too many people, like myelf, have had their attention-spans blasted to smithereens by watching too much TV through the years. The programs are NOT at fault...it's the COMMERCIALS that did the concentration-blasting bad stuff: they come on every 15 minutes or so, and having one's concentration broken up by commercials every 15 minutes or so, for 2 or more hours of TV a night, for 10 years or more, can REALLY do a lot of damage! So-- what should you do? If possible, try to watch TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES, (TCM), on cable-tv. They have MANY great movies....and have a policy of NO COMMERCIALS DURING THE TIME ANY MOVIE IS ON! (Commercials there are on before, and after each movie.) Try sitting through a few of these movies.....ALL the way through. I know for me, this is VERY hard...even for the most involving of movies -- I'm just SO used to those d---mned "commercial breaks"....but I DO try to watch favourite movies, (either on TCM, or borrowed from the library), A L L the way through. Of course, another thing to increase concentration is to try to read a book....for at least 1/2 an hour at a time. It should, of course, be a favourite book of yuurs....or a favourite TYPE of book of yours. THIS WILL HOLD YOUR ATTENTION AND HELP YOU RE-LEARN TO CONCENTRATE, just as I hope it helping me to do! Don't get me wrong....I really love watching commercials, (especially for products I don't want to ever buy....because saying "no" to the products I don't want, makes it easier, later on,to say "no!" to the products I DO ant.) I only wish they'd have the commercials at the beginning and end of each program, (ONLY!), so that I could regain my ability to concentrate, too!
