My company works with thousands of home-based businesses throughout the country. I can give you sound advice that has kept these businesses around for years. To answer your question, yes, however, this will take a lot of time and/or money. Search Engines use complex algorithms to determine a lot of things (quality score) and as you know, determine who gets top spot. These algorithms are always changing and will continue to in the future. To keep showing up you will need to put in hours everyday to ensure that you are moving up in the rankings. I don't know about you, but I don't have that kind of free time. I am not on here trying to sell you something, but the company I work for is a Multi-Media Advertising company specializing in Search Engine Marketing (SEM). We own Inceptor Inc, which basically invented SEM. One of the things that we do is Pay Per Click advertising, which I am sure you have heard of. There are pros and cons, but it really comes down to the company that is doing this for you. If you know how to do this yourself and understand all the behind the scenes work that goes into dropping your cost per click and increasing your click through rate, then you should be doing this. However, if you don't know how to do this, you should be looking into it. Of all the companies out there, I truly do not know of one that offers what we offer, including a team of specialist dedicated to your account 24/7. You should definitely look into this. And don't limit yourself to internet advertising only. There are many other forms of advertising out there that you should be considering. Latest research shows that other than Search Engines (#1- 82%), people most commonly use the Yellow Pages (57%) as the first place they go to when looking for a local business. Followed by Local Newspapers (53%), Internet Yellow Pages like Superpages.com (49%), TV (49%), and Direct Mail (38%).
