So what is the importance of salt if any in cooking other than to add flavour?

I know that in baking, especially bread, salt tempers the action of yeast. If you don't add salt when baking bread, the yeast continues to work and the bread is full of air and air holes.
Salt doesn't add much flavor. The purpose of salt is to ENHANCE the natural flavors of the foods. Soy sauce does much the same thing.
Dear Keg75
Salt is for flavoring but it is also used in baking to aid in rising. It is very important in this instance, also iodized salt is necessary in your diet because your body needs the iodine.
