One very clear effect is that of immigration on the political situation. Obviously immigrants coming from different countries won't all have the same political views. Another area in which immigration has an effect is health. There are many debates on how much immigration costs the American government, but you can see that some waves of immigration caused the incidence of certain diseases to rise in places where it was low. Of course most of these cases happened when immigration originated from a country in which incidence was high.

On the legal immigration side without it noone would live in this country except for the native americans and fo the illegal immegration side, if we didn't spend so much on them we would have more for ourselves.
