Image transfer on oils on canvas

Hi I'm a mature student embarking on a foundation course with a view to university in sept. I'm doing the FMP (final major project) that will determine what grade I will get. My final piece is oil on canvas, incorporating some photo collage and I have vision to transfer a particular image on to the canvas with an almost transparent 'water mark' look. Is this possible. If so, any ideas would be welcome. Many thanks Cat England

You might want to look at some of the work of Salvador Dali and Marc Escher.  Escher wasn't into oils but his composition will help.  There were some artists who used oil and tempura to create the kind of thing you want, but I can't remember any of their names.

I myself have used clear fingernail hardener on oil to create a permanent wet look, but this isn't the kind of watermark you were talking about.  It does give you a contrast without altering colors, though.
