Ignore missing cartridges to print on Epson CX5400

I own an Epson CX5400 which I purchased a few years ago, and about 2 years ago it ran out of ink and never refilled it. At one point I took out the cartridges to be able to bring them to the store to buy replacements, but never did and threw away the cartridges.

Now, I just purchased only the Black cartridge for the printer and installed it, but I cannot print because the printer sees the colour cartridges as missing! Is there any way to tell the printer to ignore the missing color cartridges and to print only in black and white? I've checked most general options and haven't found it.

Q:

Can I still print in black if a color cartridge is empty or vice versa?

A:

No. You cannot print at all if any ink cartridge is empty. Leave the empty cartridge installed in the printer until you have obtained a replacement; otherwise the ink remaining in the print head nozzles may dry out. It's best to always have an extra cartridge on hand

This is from Epson site..have fun..

Thank you rubberguy, that answers my question. Not the answer I wanted, but it's the only one so I'll have to accept it. :)
