Idiopathic intermittent facial swelling

idiopathic facial swelling--My husband has been suffering for the past 6 or 7 yrs with this. There are no patterns. Sometimes 5 or 6 months or 1-2 wks between episodes. Usally involving chin, lower or upper lips. Lasts approx. 2-4 days. Benadryl seems to slow the process. He doesn't have any known allergies. Never goes beyond upper lip. There is no warning or nothing that precipitates an episode. It began before he was on BP medication, which he currently takes, also Lipitor. Anyone have any answers??

There can be many causes for the swelling. It can even be allergy. So consult a physian. It is difficult to say anything without seeing the actual swelling.
