They make them especially easy online so you'll feel good about being smart. Those really aren't serious IQ tests, If you want to really know your numbers, you need to go to one of those exam centers and take the test.

However, recent researches in the past decade or so, really doubt how much those tests prove anyway - they refer to intelligent as a very narrow thing, when in fact it's much more complicated then the people who wrote the test originally perceive.

I only took online tests, so I can't compare them to written tests. However, since I got different results in different tests, and since the results vary on a relatively large range, I feel that the online tests are not a very accurate method of calculating IQ.

Furthermore, I agree  with lilly's answer regarding the value of any IQ test.

I'ld like to add to Lilly's excellent answer:  IQ was a test that began at the end in the 19th century, in France, to identify children with learning problems.  The IQ test checked 2 main abilities:  Mathematic / logic and Verbal (language skills).  The test was modified during the years but basically remained the same (checks those two).  Some 25 years ago Prof. Howard Gardner came with his brilliant theory "The theory of 7 Intelligences" (latter it expanded to 8 and more....)... that actually say that each and every one of us is a combination of those multiple intelligences.  That's a great idea: Michael Jordan could be bad in Math / logic and languages (in fact I think he is a smart guy !) but brilliant in sport (As far as I remember it is defind "kinestetic", not sure).... same applies to Bethhoven (Music)...  MichaelAngelo (painting, spatial....) and so on and so forth..... And above all: Reach each person from the strong intelligences he owns.... That theory helped me be a GR8 manager.
