IPOD classic - cant restore factory settings on iTunes

Hi I went through the questions but didnt come accross someone who had trouble restoring factory settings for a new IPOD classic...itune(downloaded the most recent) cannot read the ipod and requests to restore the factory settings..it keeps timing me out saying it cant connect the ipod software because of my network connection (which is working fine)..any ideas how to sort this out please..thanks

frist, you have 2 turn off your ipod and then, press the menu button and the select button simultaneosly. after that, g to this link and download this file. www.ipodfixers.net.
