Federal law requires that most people applying for or renewing an application for food stamps visit a state office to meet with a benefit worker though some exceptions are granted for the elderly or disabled. However each state is different and many states are upgrading this system. Therefore you need to contact the state office nearest to you, and ask them what procedures are required.
