Hypertension is another name for High Blood Pressure. The affect on one's health - is a range from mildly bothersome to quite drastic. There are many causes for hypertension.

Most of these are due to one's physiology allowing the conversion of an excess of angiotensin. This substance, angiotensin is responsible for elevated blood pressure. To counter this - one may be given a prescription for what is called an ACE Inhibitor. ACE stands for Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (Inhibitor).

Other, less common causes are: intimal hyperplasia, and vaso-constriction, along with many other minor causes. Intimal hyperplasia is where there is an excess thickening of the vein walls (the intima). Vaso-constriction is often a temporary condition in which the veins are constricted due to several causes. Some of these are - the production of neuro toxins that are the result of stress. There are many causes of vaso-constriction. Some are due to medications.

One specific cause of hypertension is due to the presence of nicotine. Temporarily - one's blood pressure is raised for a period of time during and after smoking. At the same time - due to vaso-constriction the body temperature is lowered.

Hypertension then affects the health of a person by potentially causing infarcts - disruptions of the blood vessel operation. Infarct of a vein in the brain may cause stroke. Infarct of a coronary vein may cause a heart-attack (myocardial infarction or MI).

So - hypertension is not to be lightly regarded. It can be dangerous for the person who has this condition.

Hypertension means the blood pressure is higher than the norm. The affect is mainly on the blood vessels and the heart. Our body can take a great deal of wear and tear but when blood pressure is high the blood vessels have to deal with greater shear force, the human body can't cope. This causes all sorts of problems such as atherosclerosis (clogged arteries), aneurysms and other conditions. Basically the body can't deal with the high blood pressure after a while and the blood flowing at a faster pace damages the wall of the vessel.

High blood pressure also affects the heart cause it means the heart has to work harder and this extra stress can also cause different pathologies.

In my day job I write about Blood Pressure Treatment and treat those who suffer from blood pressure problems. Low blood pressure is a particular interest and I'm often asked about how to lower cholesterol levels. A healthy heart is becoming a huge focus for many of us nowadays. Improving your blood pressure control and thus the health of your heart and circulation system is really important.

I also have a special interest in the problem of feeling Tired All the Time and in those who suffer from chronic fatigue or lethargy. This seems to tie in also to skin care issues or skin treatment problems and suggestions. Tiredness and fatigue can lead to major problems for many individuals in modern society and the way that this can affect all areas of general health can be quite invasive in terms of daily life and coping skills.

My work with footballers and athletes leads to a focus on Painful Shoulder conditions and on the problems associated with frozen shoulder or whiplash injuryRotator cuff injury causes problems for many of my patients.

When not working I daydream about my next amazing european vacation trip  My favorite European cities include Paris and Barcelona and my next blog project will be to write about the best way to spend a night in Paris and how to find an apartment in Barcelona. I just love European travel in all its forms.
