Husband tells me what to wear

my husband is always asking me to wear skimpy lingerie even to clean the house and cook or just to watch television at any hour of day.  If I want to go to the movies he wants me to wear a mini skirt with no panties and if I refuse then he does not want to go. It is driving me crazy...... sometimes I give in so that he wont get upset but when I do refuse because I just want to wear something comfy around the house he becomes upset, quiet and gives me the silent treatment. What should I do? He has become so involved in what I wear that it is really annoying.

Hi Jen. I think that you are right to be upset. Your husband should respect you enough to allow you to dress yourself in a way that makes you comfortable. If he appreciates your body and wants you to show it off, perhaps you could talk to him and offer a compromise. You could say that on special occasions or every once in a while when you are in the privacy of your own home you will dress sexy just for him. Explain to him that you are not comfortable showing off your body in front of everyone else in the world in the same way that if you asked him to wear a bathing suit to the movies he would not agree. You need to sit him down and really let him know that this is something that bothers you. If he really loves you he will respect your wishes. Good luck.

Live simply, love generously and  care deeply.

I agree totally with Jackyp, you need to talk to him about this discomfort you feel about his demands for skimpy dress.  If he still insists, you need to suggest to him to go to marriage counseling together.  There is always a place and time for everything.

Take care and I hope you both will resolve this issue.

Yes on Prop 8! - Overturn Judicial Tyranny

Don't tread on me, out-of-control Judiciary. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the earth. California has a Proposition 8 on the ballot Nov 4th defining marriage as between a man and a woman. Proposition 8 isn't an issue about "rights". It is about preserving the definition of "marriage" as between a man and a woman. Gay people can do what they want, and they can even enjoy civil benefits through domestic partnerships. But that isn't marriage. Proposition 8 is about defining marriage. Gay people should be treated with kindness and respect, like anyone. Gay people aren't the issue here nor the problem. The problem is that 4 arrogant judges in black robes sitting in their ivory tower overturned the express will of a clear majority (61%) of California citizens when those judges ruled by fiat and illegally legislated from the bench when they unilaterally redefined marriage. Prop 8 allows the citizens of California to say no to Judicial Activism and Judicial Tyranny. There are elements of the judiciary that are way out of control and are endangering the balance of power in our republic by getting involved in "legislating". This has got to stop. Voting yes on Prop 8 will help put those elitist judges back in their place and let them know they cannot arrogantly overule the will of the people in a matter as fundamental to the future of civilization as the bedrock institution of marriage. That is something important enough that it should not be left to 4 elitist judges to impose by fiat. http://www.protectmarriage.com
