Why the Humanization of God?

Now, what could possibly be wrong with this?

Dear God,
Will you please take special care of our dog, Abbey? She died yesterday and is in heaven. We miss her very much. We are happy that you let us have her as our dog even though she got sick. I hope that you will play with her. She liked to play with balls and swim before she got sick. I am sending some pictures of her so that when you see her in heaven you will know she is our special dog. But I really do miss her.

Love,
Mxxxx Cxxxx

Dear Mxxxx,
I know that you will be happy to know that Abbey arrived safely and soundly in Heaven! Having the pictures you sent to me was such a big help. I recognized Abbey right away. You know, Mxxxx, she isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me — just like she stays in your heart — young and running and playing. Abbey loved being your dog, you know. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets! — so I can't keep your beautiful letter. I am sending it to you with the pictures so that you will have this book to keep and remember Abbey. One of my angels is taking care of this for me. I hope the little book helps. Thank you for the beautiful letter. Thank your mother for sending it. What a wonderful mother you have! I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I am in heaven and wherever there is love.

Love,
God

Give up? Listen, hidden inside all of this well meant "Human Sentiment" is a deeply rooted human flaw. That flaw is the same flaw that has misled mankind ever since the first intelligent human was formed. That flaw is "Human Nature", and it is "Human Nature" to visualize the world around us in human terms, and as possessing human traits. This trait (Human Nature) has and always will be the nemesis of mankind, because "Human Nature" is "Satan's Nature". Okay, Okay! I can see that this has really opened up a can of worms; after all, what harm could come from seeing "THE FATHER" as a human father figure? Well, nothing, as long as the definition of "Father" is "Leader" or " (pro-)Creator", but when we allow ourselves to start seeing "The Father" (YHVH) as a man, then we are guilty of demoting GOD, and promoting MAN. Believe it or not, this is idolatry, and it is the very same idolatry that prompted the ancient pagans to visualize their own gods in human form. See "Pagan Photos." Man has always preferred the company of man.

1 Samuel 15:28-29

And Samuel said unto him, YHVH hath rent (torn or separated) the kingdom of Israel from thee (King Saul) this day, and hath given it to a neighbor (King David) of thine, [that is] better than thou.
And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent (of Sin): for He (YHVH) [is] not a man, that he should repent (have a change of heart towards sin).

Numbers 23:19
"God [is] not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Note:

YHVH is neither a created being (creature) nor is YHVH a creation of man. However, the Roman Jesus is the creation of man (a ROMAN creation). The True "Anointed One" was just a man (exactly like you and me) at his physical birth. The only difference was that he was predestined to be "Set Apart" for the purpose of becoming a perfected example of the type of man that YHVH seeks and that seeks YHVH.

To humanize YHVH in your mind (heart) and instill this human focused (demonic) thought into the hearts (minds) of others (especially children) is a great evil; this not only makes "The Eternal Father" appear in a weaker human form, but makes man feel equal or nearly equal to GOD. The next naturally (human nature) occurring step is to believe that YHVH is not only capable of making mistakes (like a human), but that we even have "The Right" to challenge YHVH. This is mankind's greatest error, and is nothing more than SELF-worship (IDOLATRY).

This brings us to the next terrible evil perpetrated on mankind by his very own "Human Nature" (Satan). By the way Satan is nothing more than an anthropomorphism for "Human Nature". You see, it is just as damning to visualize Satan in human form, as it is to visualize YHVH (The Creator) in human form. However, the greatest error of all time is to visualize "The Eternal Father" as "God in The Flesh" (as a man); in particularly as Jesus (IHS or Ihsous); Jesus is not GOD! See "Who says Christ is God".
Let's review the following verse.

Numbers 23:19

"God [is] not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Note:

Messiah (anointed one) is referred to as "Son of Man" approximately as many times as he is called a "Son of God". However, all "Chosen" human beings are both "Sons of God" and "Sons of Man", and not one of them is a deity. Why? Because the position of the FIRSTBORN "Son of God" (or any son of God) is an "Appointed Position". It is a position of inheritance, but only the eldest (appointed firstborn) son inherits the throne of King David (Kingdom of YHVH on Earth) . Read "Who Sits on The Throne of God".

Hebrews 1:2

(YHVH) Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] (appointed firstborn) Son, whom he hath appointed heir (appointed as firstborn) of all things, for whom, also, YHVH made the worlds;

Did "The Anointed One"(christos / messiah) ever repent of sin? YES, he must have, because not only was he baptized unto repentance by John the Baptizer, but according to the Torah (Marriage Covenant, Ten Commandment or any commandment) all disobedience is sin (SELF-centeredness versus YHVH-centeredness). Accordingly . . . .

Hebrews 5:8

Though he (Messiah) were a Son (appointed son), yet HE (Messiah) learned obedience by the things which HE suffered (in life; not on the stake, the stake / cross would have been too late);

Now I ask you, why would a sinless (obedient) son need to learn obedience (unless he was not yet perfected) ? He apparently LEARNED obedience by suffering the consequences of his own sins.

YHVH (GOD) cannot sin, repent of sin, lie or die.

Numbers 23:19

"God [is] not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Can you not see that Human Nature (Satan) is responsible for the "Humanization of GOD" ?

YHVH does not need to repent of sin! Because . . .

YHVH cannot die !

YHVH cannot sin ! and . . .

YHVH cannot be tempted by sin (SELF-centeredness) !

Mark 1:13

And there came a voice from heaven, [saying], Thou art my beloved (appointed) Son, in whom I am well pleased.
And immediately the (Holy Righteousness Seeking) Spirit (of YHVH entered him, and mentally) drove him into the wilderness.
And he was there in the wilderness, tempted by Satan (human nature) for forty days; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels (Righteousness seeking thoughts or messengers) ministered unto him.

But "FLESH and BLOOD" dies . . . , sins . . . , is tempted . . . , and must repent of SELF. Human nature is a fact of life (as designed by YHVH), and humans prefer human companionship, and human leaders; it's the only thing humans really understand. Not surprisingly, humans draw comfort from other humans, and not from an invisible GOD that "The Worldly" (natural man) find(s) unapproachable. This is the exact same mental attitude mistake (sin) that the ancient Israelites made, when they demanded a HUMAN KING from Samuel.

1 Samuel 8:5-7

And (they) said unto him, Behold, thou (Samuel) art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the other nations.
But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, "Give us a king to judge us." And Samuel prayed unto YHVH.
And YHVH indicated unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me (YHVH), that I should not reign over them.

Galatians 6:7
Be not deceived; GOD (YHVH) is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth (by NATURE), that shall he also reap.

Proverbs 14:12 or
Proverbs 16:25
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.

All things are possible if you set your mind to it & dedicate yourself to what you want & never take yourself too seriously!Wink

You said that so well...God is not a man and not to be mocked. The problem with today's society is they believe there are no consequences for their actions & thats why this country is going to hell in a handbasket. Non-believers are insisting that god & prayer be taken out of schools, courtrooms & the like. What do people believe is going to happen when we, as a nation, reject god?? We are in for more treouble than we can imagine.

Hi, ---------- Excellent question / insight. The answer is simple: Abstract is difficult to grasp.... so people prefer to see / touch / hear / feel with there senses.... and they made statues and sculptures of G-d (e.g: the golden lamb עגל הזהב when Moses went to meet G-d on mount Sinai). Same applies to ower modern days too.... --------- Best regards,

I think you answered your own question pretty well -- it is part of our sin nature, since eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, to think we can compartmentalize everything including God.

But really, seeing God as a "father" figure is still a step above openly idolizing figures who are NOT God, isn't it? Scripture doesn't say we must have an accurate picture of God to enter His kingdom. In fact, we are told His ways are not our ways and we cannot know Him. So we are back to concentrating on the salvation provided by Jesus to intercede for us.

Aboyce22, are you referring to Isaiah 55?

6 Seek ye YHWH while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto YHWH, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith YHWH. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. 12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. 13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to YHWH for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off. Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. 3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. 4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. 5 Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of YHWH thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.

God did not give me the spirit of fear, but that of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  11Timothy 1:7

OF COURSE...Jesus is not the Son of man, but the Son of God.  Apparently you do not believe in the Trinity.  The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  They are all three in one.  That is a secret of God that we will someday find out when we set at the feet of Jesus and ask our questions.  Jesus was not by any means a man like you, or other men.  Jesus was perfect!!  He had no sin, period.  On the other hand, we live in a body of sin, the Bible says we are no more than filthy rags.  But, on the resurrection morning, we will get new bodies that will be fit to enter Heaven.  God was hurt I am sure, when He had to allow His Son the death He had to take on to forgive the world of all the many sins we commit.  Look up the word "begotten" from the scripture John 3:16.  It is hard to express the love God had for Jesus, knowing His perfection, yet allowing Him to take on the sins of the world.

And one last remark.  Why are some of you on here afraid to spell out the name of God?  What is this new fad spelling God's name G-d?  That is quite pitiful if I may say so.  God is God!  There is no space between He and we.

To spell God as G-d sets Yahweh apart.

Yahshua wasn't perfect, otherwise he wouldn't have had to learn obedience or be "immersed" for his sins, mommasgirl.

Hebrews 5: 7 Who in the days of his flesh, having offered up both supplications and entreaties to him (Yahweh) who was able to save him out of death, with strong crying and tears; (and having been heard because of his piety;) 8 though he were Son, he learned obedience from the things which he suffered; 9 and having been perfected, became to all them that obey him, author of eternal salvation;
