The key is to have a plan, if you knew and had already discussed what you would do in this type of market, you would not be worried.  There would be controls and procedures in place to ensure that your wishes were answered.  Now most people are scrambling to cut there losses.  You need to also develop your wealth preservation team.  This is the team that can help you to follow your plan, so that you don't make the mistakes that the average investor is making right now.  Do you have a comprehensive financial & retirement plan?  Do you have set out rules and guidelines for your investments?  Maybe it is time to get a real plan and develop an Investment Policy Statement for you hard earned nest egg.
