Right now there is no real hot spot. The sub prime market has slowed the sales and lowered the values of many homes across the country.

Sit tight and start watching where the next population growth looms and that may be the spot to go. In the mean time start doing your research and learning as much as possible about real estate before you start to invest.

Good luck.

I would stay away from the real estate in the US for a while. I fear the US may be heading into a slowing down of its economy. I would wait a bit and see what happens in the next year. You may be able to buy real estate at a much cheaper price if you are patient.

I just saw something on my AOL homepage that you may be interested in.  The headline read something like:  Places Where Home Prices Haven't Gone Down.  Anyway, there's money to be made there and here's the website:

Goodkarma: I am planning a high-end custom home project for the resort town of Aspen Colorado that will be pointed to the upper 1-2% of ultra wealthy. The project is not intended for today's down market, but to come on stream in 3-1/2+ years (due to planning, design, financing, construction time lines) when the economy will have turned up, as it most assuredly will, and the wealthy again start spending.  I am seeking a financial/investment partner(s).  Executive Summary, references and details are available.
