If you will it... it is no dream

I think that if your child wants to learn, and you want to take him/her, then go for it.  Just make sure you trust the person they are learning from and that they are careful.  Have fun and good for you, for wanting to teach your child to have fun from a young age.

3 is a little young but not unheard of.

My niece's eldest started when she was four, and she had a terrific instructor. Make sure the people you work with are real pros, and know how to work with young children/

I agree with edel.  If  you child wants to ride, that's wonderful.  Take the child to a professional teacher who has a background in teaching children.  As long as the child is under the direction of a Professional, experienced in this field, I say wonderful.  Teaching at an early age is very important and very successful.  May your child have a great experience.  You sound like a wonderful mother to research this out for your child.  I applaud you.  We need more parents like you.  Thank you.

Love my horses: soli and chippy!

If you have a horse thats safe enough for your child to do anything on then she/he should be fine with a qualified riding instructer. Or if your child is to have riding lessons then three will be ok as long as their sure to have a go. Have a lesson or two and see how it goes. =]

No 3 is not to young . I have been riding since I was 5 .  Find a good instructor at a good stable and sign the kid up for lessons.
