It may be due to cold diaper wipes. Perhaps the newborn has a rash which hurts when wiped. Of course, there may be no problem at all; the newborn is used to the warmth in the uterus with a very stable temperature and no fluctuations (ie. cold drafts, etc.), and so, as the baby's sensitivities decrease, so will the crying at diaper changes.
