WinkAre you asking why do I, personally, read? Well, in any case, astrology is based on the 'wheel in the sky' which shows all the zodiac signs & the planets positions within them at any given time. This practice has been going on for 100's & 100's of years. In the beginning, it was simply to help people to know when to plant their crops. Some person within a particular village would begin star-gazing; one year or other, when the crops were to be ready for harvest-disastrous news-they were ruined! Now this person who'd been watching the sky realized the things he had been seeing would actually HELP his village in having successful crops...or they could hungry. Well, if something so important as when to plant & harvest crops to feed everyone was readily available in that ever-moving wheel in the Heavens, it only stood to reason that there MUST be more knowledge to be found...maybe MUCH more. These men became revered as 'shamans,' 'magis,' etc. It depended on what region one was from as to what they were called; but they became very important men. Of course, over time as people learned to tell things by the sky, these original men were not needed in that sort of 'service' anymore. People had learned to make sundials & different sorts of calenders that could be held up to the night sky at the summer & winter solstices which helped with the crops. Over the years, astronomers became very accurate at telling where all KINDS of things were. But of course, the constellations had been found & named, the 12 'houses of the zodiac,' the names of each sign that inhabited a house & its qualities had long been learned. The BEST reason, to me, to read about yourself is to learn more about your own motivations & your strengths & weaknesses. Did you know that they still print all this info in every months' "Farmer's Almanac?" I come from the country & probably the most people I've ever seen to not 'read' astrology ARE farmers, simply because they don't have the time! But they still check the almanac for planting, times to fish, etc. according to moon phases! So, it's not so much 'reading a daily horoscope' to see if you should leave the house today! The best place to start is with your birth chart. It is especially helpful if you know the day & time you were born-like mine is 11:55 a.m. Saturday-if you don't, you could probably find out from your mother. This will give you the exact positions of the planets when you were born-a sort of 'blueprint' for this life! It will explain what each one means-your sun-sign, (which is the only one in 'daily horoscopes'), your moon sign, your rising sign & north node. As you read, you WILL be like, "oh--that's me!" But parts you may not have yet learned or even FACED will help you to actually expand as a person & use all your good qualities, while you improve the others! It still amazes me that people even ADMIT anymore that they don't believe-God is the one who created this whole universe & made each aspect just-so; therefore, I seem to find that it's mostly 'scientists' who are still trying to DISPROVE God's existence by the very things he created!

The artist is the record keeper of present time and keeper of timeless culture ~ Yaroslaw Rozputnyak

Yes. And for those who aren't well versed in it's history please see Gentsyetta's most excellant reply. I would like to add onto it some though with this link which shows how many great minds (such as Sir Isaac Newton for example) throughout the centuries have used this science to benefit humankind.   http://www.astroenergetics.com/history-of-astrology/index.html

Anyone who calls it "nonesense" is quite simply just ignorant.
