The previous answers are good ones. Homeschooling is so wide spread now and there are some really solid laws protecting homeschooled children that the information out there is abundant. You can homeschool through your school district. You can sign them up with an accredited organization like BJU. As far as socialization....a homeschooled child by law is permitted access to every service that a public school child is allowed. They are permitted to take up to two classes through the high school (like lab science and P.E.) They are permitted to join and try out for all athletic programs. They cannot be discriminated against because they are homeschooled. Truthfully, a homeschool child can get the best of both worlds if you the parent are proactive and willing to be extremely involved in the whole process. Because your son is in high school it is crucial that you have some type of curriculum that keeps official records and a transcript for him if he plans to go on to college.
