My brother and his wife just had a bby and he is 2 month old but I still afraid to hold him. I really afraid that I will crush him or drop him by mistake.

Fertility Stories - infertility experiences of people like you.

Start by sitting on a couch, with your arm resting on the armrest and have someone hand him to you, placing his head on the inside of your elbow. I think it will come to you quite naturally.

Good luck :-)

I have found that the standard football carrying hold is the best to maintain balance and feel secure. In this method baby's head is cradled in my left hand and the body is held close to my body with baby's legs in the crook of my elbow.

Babies are a lot more hardy than you think and it is almost impossible to crush baby unless you do it deliberately. Start by sitting down and ask one of the parents to put baby on your lap. Hold baby carefully and then stand making sure baby's head is well supported. From then on it is just pure enjoyment until baby cries and must be returned immediately to one of his/her parents. Enjoy!!

On a more serious note... just make sure to support the head, tuck your arm under the baby's butt, and sit down if that make you more comfortable.
