Hoe do I repair a dining room table that has had ...

Hoe do I repair a dining room table that has had heat damage (it shows up on the stain of the table, but the stains are not white. ) Someone put something too hot on the table. The stain itself has become discolored...perhaps just lighter or more washed out but it did not leave white spots on the table. Can you give me any ideas about hjow to refinish this table and do away with the heat damaged spots. Thank you.
