Stella Mary Chisholm
From The Lafayette Leader , Friday, October 11, 1946:
Stella Norman Chisholm
Death came to Mrs. Stella Mary Chisholm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Norman of Baseline Road, this city, late Wednesday of last week. Mrs. Chisholm had been separated from her husband, John Chisholm since early in September, and despondency over her domestic troubles led her to end her life. It is understood, she came home from downtown late in the afternoon and showed her mother a pill with which she said she intended to take her life. He mother thought she was joking and left the house to find on her return later that her daughter was unconscious on her bed. Mrs. Chisholm was dead when the physician arrived, who performed a partial autopsy which convinced him the death was by poison, probably cyanide. No one knows where she secured the pill. The Chisholms had no children.
Mrs. Chisholm is survived by her parents, a brother, John, of Lafayette; and a sister, Mrs. Ann Norman of St. Louis, who is here for a week or so. The deceased was born June 15, 1909 and grew up here, attending the local schools. Funeral services were held at the Henning mortuary and burial in the local cemetery last Sunday.
