Hire A Contractor Websites - Which one is the best?

I need to hire someone to extend my back concrete patio 6ft. x 6ft. I have seen a few websites that say they can connect me with "quality" contractors. Does anyone recommend one of these "free estimates" websites? If so, which one is the best?

Personally I have never had good results with the on line estimates. It always seems to change once you get someone out to do the job. I feel your best bet is to start looking in your local yellow pages, or regional papers like the penny saver, nickel news, or whatever it may be called in your area, these are the papers that people sell items through and advertise in.

Also check with the local chamber of commerce and or the Better Business Bureau for references.

Good luck and best wishes.

Word to mouth is the best way to get a good contractor. I wouldn't be tempted by those sites, most of the time they'll give you a low estimate to get you to hire them, while in fact, you'll end up playing much more.

I agree with the answers but would add service magic to my list.  Make sure they have insurance! http://www.180equipment.com

It is really better to seek assistance from websites that have already established a good reputation online.
