Asked about “central air conditioners

High electric bills for the last 2 months

I have an all electric house, and my bill this time last year was no more than $90 for everything. This month it is $190.00. In June we did get a Spa2Go, which runs 24 hrs. a day- our bill went to $146.00. On July 25, we got central a/c installed, and now we have the $190 bill. Do you thinks it's the spa & air combined to give such a high bill, or a meter problem? The spa people say it's only the equivalent of a 75 watt light bulb; and another place say they cost $5-8 monthly to operate. I'm confused!!

Love is the battery of life....

Hi,

It's probably not the Spa2Go per se.  It can be a result of some big electric consumer (e.g: an airconditioner).  It's easy to find out who are the big electrical consumers (a simple check).
Another possible reason: Please check when did your electric meter was read last time.  In many cases the municipality send it's people to read it only every 3-5 months and therefor send an estimated bill (based on your average electrical consumption).  An such a case it could happend that after reading your meter it shows a big consuption.  Obviousely at summer time people normally use more electricity than in spring time.
best regards,

We got a spa 2 months ago and our electric bill went up $147.00 a month. Everyone I know who has a spa says their bill has only gone up $20-50 a month. I called the electric company and they said if it is always on and it's .21 cents an hour x 24 hours x 30 days it should be about $150 a month. Are we crazy or are the other spa owners lying? It's very frustrating and exspensive!

you should upgrade your air conditioning system to a high efficiency like 16 SEER and up.
