High LP(a) + allergy to Niaspan

I am an active athletic 57 yr old woman.  I eat well and am quite lean. I had 5 stents inserted 2 years ago for severe coronary artery blockages. While my overall cholesterol and LDLs are low and HDL are high, I have very high LP(a) - 58.  I have tried Niaspan, but developed a rather severe allergic reaction to it. None of the local cardiologists/lipidologists have offered any additional suggesstions.  Can anyone help me with an affective alternative proptocol?
