First I know just how miserable panic attacks can be.Try the following suggestions in attempting to manage the attacks, or relieve them all together. However, if this does not work-you may have to consider medication. #1.When you feel an attack coming on, (most people will try to fight it away, this will only increase the feelings of the attack)try to go alone with the attack, taking slow deep breaths, sitting in a quiet place. If you try to fight the attack, your gonna increase your heart rate, and your breathing which will increase the feelings, and the time that the attack lasts. #2.At the end of each day, think back about all your activities, and feelings for that day (even if you haven't had an attack)once you think about all your activities, and feelings for that day-then try to think about all your activities, and feelings in reverse (meaning from your last activity/feeling, on up to your first activity/feeling.) #3.Excercize, this turns chemical on in the body, that naturally helps with depression which can be a reason for panic attacks.Start out slow, and if you have any other health problems check with your physician first. #4.Never, ever try to drink, or use (unprescribed)drugs in seeking relief of attacks. This is only a quick fix, and will increase attacks. #5.Start a journal, writing down your thoughts, feelings, likes, dislikes, (try to include in the journal exactly, what you were doing when you felt an attack coming on) #6.If you drink beverages, or eat food with caffiene-limit the caffiene, or cease it all together. #7.Try getting enough uninterrupted sleep each night.(Most adults require 7-8 hours each night) #8.Do not add any unneeded stressors to your life right now. #9.Talk to someone you can trust. #10.Do not issolate yourself. Again if the above approaches do not work, or greatly relieve the attacks-you may need to consider medication(s)to get back on track.Goodluck!!!
