Handle all the finances yourself, letting her handle household expenses.
My suggestion would be to go to a financial budgeting class together. If that doesn't help, take the checkbook away and maintain control of the finances yourself.

Budgeting and finances should be something the two of you work on together continuously to avoid this problem you're having. I think a budgeting class would benefit most definitely since your wife is having difficulties managing the finances. Taking the "control" away will most likely cause more trouble in your marriage than any financial burden your having! lol If you approach it as a team, you may get better results both financially as well as on the homefront ;) Good luck!
