Help...space challenged in our open floor plan for LR, DR & K

how do you arrange living room furniture in tight spaces and you only have two walls and a huge picture window on the 3rd wall? This room contains a rectangular dining table/chairs & a kitchen that is separated by a pony bar and extended counter/cabinets. We're working w/in a 15' wide by 19' long living space. There are 2 Pottery Barn style leather chairs, 2 square tables beside the chairs; entertainment armoir; book case-4' wide that can be attached to the armoire; a rectangular coffee table and a 3 seat sofa; 2 2' speakers that take up a 1' 1/4. We know that we should take out some furnture; but how can we best arrange what we have for now?? Many thanks......mitzi

Victims of circumstance owe it to fate. Victims of choice owe it to themselves.

Mitzi-

I do not think that this task can be done in a blind fashion.

I looked on Google for some free software appropriate for this, but I could not find any.

What I recommend you do is to print out a 15 x 19 table and make scale drawings of your furniture. A chair that measures 2' x 3' becomes a rectangle that is 2 x 3 grid (or table) squares. When this is done, you can "push" your furniture around without having to get the neighbor's to help. It will make you husband love you more.

Here is a site that you can download and print graph paper- http://www.printfree.com/Office_forms/GraphPaper2.htm

Would it be a possibility to take out the bar? I have a bar in my kitchen seperating it fron the dining room. I removed it make it look twice as big.
