Help im scared

Im having all 4 wisdom teeth out soon at the hospital. Have my pre op assement next week, I am very very very worried I think as I have got older I am more worried about pain and going into hospital. All 4 wisdom teeth are impacted. I have only been having trouble with my left bottom one which keep causing that side of my mouth to swell up but they have decided to take them all out. I am having anesthetic but am still worried about the pain and how long the swelling is going to last. I don't really want to have much time off work but don't want to go in with a huge swallen face. How long till the mouth would be feeling normal??

I'll search, while you Cool wait.

I underwent anesthesia to remove two wisdom tooths.  I experienced pain for one day,  However, the tooths were not removed in a hospital, they were removed in a dental office chair. I was only given 24 hours quarters, a term the military uses to signify one day of rest, of course.

Nonetheless, I experienced pain for one day.  I did not have any swelling, but I could not eat solid foods.  I sipped and slurped soup, and I had nothing cold for that day.  I was given a few narcotics that helped to alleviate the pain at the onset.  All in all, it was not a bad experience, and I was back to work after one day.

So I sincerely hope that you will stop worrying, but of course you will -- because I did too.  But when it was all over, I felt so much better and realized that I worried in vain.  I also hope that you will not have any swelling, considering that you are experiencing some swelling with your left bottom tooth.  I suggest that when you see the doctor, right before surgery, ask him or her will you experience swelling or will the removal of the tooth(s) help to minimize that affect?  My regards.

I had three wisdom teeth removed, each one separately. In two cases everything went well, it didn't hurt much I was back to normal in less than a day. The third (chronologically it was the second) it hurt a bit more and I was very weak for a day, but the next day I was OK.

I don't think you have a reason to worry or to be scared.

I had my wisdom teeth cut out about 2 years ago.  I was sooooooo nervous when I went in!!!  When I woke up...I was like...ummmm, is that it??  I mean yeah you are going to be a little sore after the fact but it was not that bad.  Just take your pain medication and sleep through it!! LOL.
