Help me find some insurance..

I am in tx and am looking for insurance coverage for clonozapam 1 mg, cymbalta 60mg and ambiem 10 mg. I cannot find one yet. I have tried aetna, humana and bravo, but they all won't cover psychiatric medications for depression and anxiety. Can anyone suggest an insurance that does cover these kinds of meds. Without too much trouble.

Thanks you all so much.

Joe,  If you have health insurance now, check with them to see if they have drug coverage.  Clonazepam is generic and Ambien comes in a generic form.  Cymbalta is the most expensive.  Any health insurance company that also has drug coverage, has to cover your psychiatric meds.  They may not pay the full amount, but they have to pay something.  Try Blue Cross Blue Shield.  They are pretty good.  Ask your doctor for samples until you can find a health insurance company with drug coverage that will cover all of your meds.  I am sure s/he will be happy to give you the samples that you need.

You may need to know that all insurance must cover all medicines.  However, your doctor must file for a hearing and give his medical input on why these medicines are medically necessary.  I know that AARP Medicare preferred insurance covers antidepressants.  However, you can also get in touch with your state medicaid at the local department of social services to see if you are eligible to receive Medicaid.  Medicaid will pay for drugs for anxiety and the like.  Good luck.  If you need the medicine medically necessary no insurance company can turn you down.  But....you have to go through all the red tape first before they will approve it.

Unfortunately many insurances have no or minimal coverage for mental health benefits.  Also, many insurances have a pre-existing clause, when you are looking into coverage that is the first thing you should probably check out, it may save you some time.   Additionally, insurance coverage even from the big carriers like Aetna, Humana, etc depends on the state you live in.  Get on your treating physician to help you make a case.  However, again if this is a pre-existing condition and you are now looking for coverage you will have a tough time.  I wish you luck.
