What I reccomend is a food journal.  Calorie king has a good one that only cost about 3 bucks and thier website (calorieking.com) is great to find out the caloric value of foods.  Just keep it for a week and eat as normal then review and see what you can cut out.  It really is eye-opening and it gives you a since of accountability
