I need help cleaning my microwave. I know not to use cleaning soaps, etc. because it will make the food taste like soap. It gets black stuff in it that looks like mold on the walls. I know it's not mold because I use it daily, but that's the best way to describe it. If anyone has any magic tricks for me, I would surely appreciate it.
Moisten a paper towel or two and lay it in the Microwave, turn it on for one minute after that it will be hot so be careful, this should loosen everything and after that if you want to use bleach water to wipe it down again. It works for me.......

I cut a couple of oranges and maybe a lemon into wedges, and cover with water in a micowave safe bowl. Microwave it for 5 minutes or so (The bowl will be extremely hot when you take it out!). The steam and citric acid will have loosed all the funk inside. You can just wipe it clean with a paper towel, and your microwave will smell nice, too!

My way is similar to bikerbabe883, but I have a link to some step by step photos.
Take a wad of wet paper towels and add a drop of dish soap. Heat this up in the microwave for 1 minute. Let is sit for 5 minutes and then use the paper towels to wipe down the microwave. The crusty food just falls off!

This technique is great for weekly maintenance and for stubborn food splatter.
