Help my brother is dying

To Whom It May Concern,

from jeannieoh.com (jeannie Warner)

In the 46 years of growing up with my brother, Michael James Fox, I never dreamed I would be writing a letter pleading for his life. Michael was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma Cancer in March of 2009. He is 47 years old and has worked for over 30 years paying into Medical Insurance.  When his treatment started he had Great West Health Ins. and they were covering all his medical cost.  When he was unable to work he went on Cobra who was supposed to protect him and continue his coverage with Great West Health. The company my brother worked for (Barghausen Consulting Engineers) discontinued all employee and cobra participants’ health benefits. It was brought to our attention by Labor and Industry due to the timing of this it may be a discrimination act against my brother because of his illness. Great West Health had already approved his much needed Stem cell and Bone Marrow Transplant with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. They went as far as testing us siblings to find a Donor and I am a perfect match for my brother. This is such a desperate situation because Great West Health dropped my brother in the middle of his Stem Cell Treatment and his Transplant. My brother was able to get Health insurance with Regence, however Regence is denying him coverage for any existing illness. They say there is a 12 month waiting period for coverage. We need Regence to waive this waiting period because the stem cell and transplant have to be done within 90 days of each other. My brother received his stem cell on September 21st 2009, he is on day 53 as of 11/12/09. Great West discontinued coverage Oct 31st 2009. Now here we sit both of us ready to go through transplant and no insurance company will approve it. My brother will die without this procedure, the cost  for the transplant is $190,000 which we cannot possibly raise in this amount of time. We Need Regence To Waive This 12 Month Waiting Period…   Please Help us to Plead for Mike’s life and persuade Regence to change their minds by contacting Provider Relations

Jeannie,  Get ahold of a social worker at the hospital.  Have the social worker fill out papers for Medicaid insurance.  The social worker can help you get the ball rolling immediately.  Best wishes.
