I have recently discovered that I have severe arthritis in both of my hips. I had total hip replacement on right side 6/30/09; scheduled to try to have same for left as soon as December. Problem - I sleep on my side, so even before the surgery I have been dealing w/a lot of pain this past year or so before I learned how severe my condition was. I got a memory foam topper (only about 2-3"), which helped, but mattress is old & now figuring maybe I just ought to invest in new mattress (instead of adding more and more layers on top!) Its been years since I bought a mattress -- asking for suggestions on best mattress for side sleeper...esp one w/arthritis! Also I have limited budget - can't afford more than $500 - $700. Help!!
Start looking for hip stengthening exersizes instead. They worked for me and I had the same problem. I'm pretty sure Prevention Magazine has some featured in one of their issues which you can surely find on their website.
