While technically it would be okay for you to take the pill, I would see a doctor before. There are different kinds of pills, some low estrogen, some progresterin and your gynochologist could help you decide which is right for you. She also will explain how to use the pill correctly (different pills are taken differently). I could give you more information if you would tell me what pill it is that you are thinking of starting and how old you are?

The truth hurts.

Rayjay is right... you shouldn't take the pills before you talk to a doctor. Those specific pills may not be right for you, then you rely on them to prevent pregnancy and they don't.  If you're worried about telling your parents you want birth control (I don't know how old you are, but it sounds like you are young), then go to the free clinic.

Seasonal Combined pill - combines estrogen and progesterone like the combined pill but is taken for 12 weeks straight with the 13th week off when menstruation takes place. This means that you will only menstruate 4 times a year and will make it really hard to know if you are pregnant. Yes it is possible to get pregnant even if you are on the pill! Since this is a combined pill, many women have side effects such as spotting/bleeding. Putting these hormones in your body is a very serious thing and I do not recommend going on the pill at age 15. Your body is still developing and putting these pills in your body at such a young age is not healthy. Please talk to your doctor before taking them. You can read more here about Seasonal and how to take it correctly (if you are going to take them anyway, make sure you are taking it right). Birth control pills do NOT protect you from Sexually Transmitted Disease and need to be used with condoms.
