Heartbroken Grandmother

Susan, I'm sorry about your daughter's decision not to include you in her life and so with her baby. At her age, she can do whatever she wants, I know that really hurt your feelings. There will come a time that she will need your help. Just respect her wishes, leave her alone, tell her that you're available for her if and when she needs help. In the meantime, focus your attention and energy on your own life. Take care.

   Just trust that God will look after your daughter and grandchild.

I know that she will come around.  What she needs is Psychiatric help. 

Try to understand that she is not in her right mind, so I guess you should forgive her, for whatever she's doing.

She really isn't in her right mind. She needs to get her bipolar disorder under control or she won't be able to be a good parent. And bipolar disorder really is easily controlled with the proper medication, provided she takes the medication regularly.

I know it hurts. Believe me, I know. I've had experience, 20 years of it. But it's very hard to get mad at someone when you know they genuinely aren't responsible for their own actions, that they just can't help it. But she has a child, she needs to get medical/psychiatric help so she can be a responsible parent.
