Heart Healthy

We're trying to eat "heart healthy".  What can we grill that will fit the Dr.'s orders.  I want to learn how to cook/fix fish, etc.  that my husband will eat (he prefers battered and fried, over baked or grilled, of course).

Turn off the television and teach your children how to think.

You might go down to the bookstore (used or mainstream) and browse through the cookbook selections. I'm sure there will be something that catches your eye that will have recipes you think your husband will eat.

You can also check out community cooking sites such as Recipezaar.com and allrecipes.com (there are tons of others, as well) and see what other people are cooking who may find themselves in your situation.

Finally, making even small adjustments in your habits will help. Omit or cut down on your use of salt, use olive or safflower oil instead of solid shortening, try oven frying instead of deep frying, and so on.

Good luck and good health!

Your direction, not your intention, determines your destination

This is not Curtis, but there is an older edition of the New and Revised Fourth Edition of the Americian Heart Association Cookbook, and the recipes are as good as Curtis will ever make for you. If you would like to see these recipes see if your local library has a copy or another of their books. The Heart Association has been puttting them out for years, and if you don't tell your husband he will not know he is eating something good for him.. Here's to healthy cooking.
