Hello, Reever2.  As a person who has studied nutrition for the last 22 years, I'd like to start by a quote;  "There ain't no such thing as bad food."   Although the english may not be right, I think the quote is.

I could say, however, that there are good or bad diets, in other words, it's the overall diet that counts, rather than a specific food.  Sure, there are foods that are "better" for you, but you can induldge in some that aren't as healthy, so long as you don't overdo it.

My best advise, based on current nutritional science, is to eat a diet that is high in fruits and vegetables, include plenty of whole-grains, nuts and seeds; while limiting the amount of meat.  Include some fish, and some low-fat dairy products.

Use "healthier" oils, such as olive or canola oil, while limiting foods with trans fatty acids.

Oh, and one last point, this time quoting Mark Twain:  "Be careful whne reading health books, you may die of a misprint."

Hope that helps, and good luck!

Yours,

Peter Bosani.

Don't forget that dark chocolate has been found to be extremely healthy for you.  It's loaded in anti-oxidants.

Though this isn't really what you asked, the advice I'd give you is to maintain a balanced diet, regardless of what's in it. Healthy foods are no longer healthy if you overdo it - moderation and balance are key to a healthier diet.
