Headers and Footers in WORD 2007

I am writing a long paper in WORD 2007.  The Header and Footer lines were  never showing until a couple of days ago.  They are a distraction and are beginning to annoy me.  How do I hide them?

In word go to View click on it.

View has a section named Show/Hide , which you are probably referring to, but none of the choices refers to Headers and Footers.  One comes close (refers to the Ruler at the top of the page) - but nothing seemed to help.  Can you take me a couple of steps further?

In "Word" clck "View" when that comes up scroll down to "Headers  Footers" click on that . That should remove them.  It works for me.

Thanks for your repeat answer.  It just occurred to me that you are probably in Word 2003, and I'm in 2007 (2003 was much better).  When I go to View , I get 5 items within "Show and Hide:"  Ruler; Grid Lines; Message Bar; Document Map and Thumbnails .  There is nothing about Headers and Footers.  Although it didn't work out, thanks for your time and effort.

I didn't know there was a word 2003 and 2007. Sorry I wasted your time.

No problem.  That you took the time to answer was the important thing.  Seriously.  Thanks.
