I am not sure that I agree with the premise that ...

I am not sure that I agree with the premise that conservatives are happier than liberals because liberals are too concerned with social inequalities. Wouldn't you agree that conservatives are happier because they conduct their lives according to stricter rules while liberals go for looser ones?

I think that it's a matter of conservatives expect to be responsible for their own happiness, while liberals expect it to be a right or provided them by the state.  Obviously only one way will work very well.
