Hangover

Can anyone recommend a good way to prevent hangovers? I often wake after a night's drink and feel lousy. And don't tell me to put my head in ice water.

- Don't mix different alchohol types (wine, beer, whiskey/vodka). Try to stick to 1 kind of drink all night

- Drink a lot of water while drinking alcohol, and also before going to sleep - the alchohol dehydrates our body, and that's the main cause of hangovers.

I always drink tomato juice. It works great. Take an aspirin with it and you will feel like a new person within minutes. And don't forget also to drink a lot of fluids during the day. Alcohol dehydrates your body.

Through repeated trial and error I've found that the best way to minimize a hangover is to drink two glasses of water *before* going to bed.  All right, you probably will have to get up during the night to go to the loo but it helps with your hydration.

I've also discovered that a significant portion of a hangover can be caused by the chain smoking that often accompanies drinking.

After years of suffering hangovers and trying all sorts of remedies, I can confidently offer these tips:

Cut down or, if possible, totally avoid aerated drinks or club soda. Add only real fruit juice or just plain water to your drink. Have lots of salad along with the drink; cut down on fried stuff.

Try and smoke as few cigarettes as possible.

Drink plenty of water before, during and after imbibing liquor.

Don't mix drinks. Last night I had beer, brandy, rum, beer and brandy (in that order). Urghhh...I felt so bad this morning.

Last tip: Only if you can handle it -- Have a Good Morning peg soon after you wake up, and continue drinking:-))).

when you get back from a night out of drinking, drink as much water as you can when you get home to drown out the alcohol and you will never wake up with a headache. Also, eat whole apple before you go to bed and it's suppose to help you not wake up with a hangover.
