I want to hang some decorative items from the rear exterior walls of my condo. Unfortunately, the exterior is covered with aluminum siding. The hooks that are made to hang items from vinyl siding don't work with aluminum. Any ideas?
Be anxious for nothing
You will have to find the studs behind the siding. The studs are the 2x4 frame of your house and are normally 16 inches apart.Unless the aluminum siding covers a house that was already wood siding. If so skip the next step. You will probably need a stud finder, buy at Home Depot. Mark the location with a pencil, drill a small hole through the aluminum siding, so you dont bend it putting your hooks in. Then screw your hooks in and after going through softer insulation board 1/2 inch thick you will reach the stud.Good luck.
