HP Deskjet 4360 printer problems

I hooked my HP D4360 DESKJET printer up to my HP vista laptop computer. When I try to print a document, the printer aborts midway through the document and all the lights on the printer start flashing. When I shut my computer down and turn it back on, the printer starts printing the original document. However it then just errors out again. ANY SUGGESTIONS HOW TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM?
