As a doctor, if you find out your patient is HIV positive and he does not want his wife to know, are you legally required to tell her? Do you have to report his communicable disease to the CDC?
no you are not. you have an obligation to the patient and his confidentiality.
quite a moral dilemma, but unfortunately for his wife...there is nothing you can do.
