Guns Control and School Shooting

Well, generally, if you look at the messages some media and computer/video games send to children is: "Force rules. " So, the problem is much deeper than this picture.

Truly, this picture is sending the wrong message.  But I have to admit, I have never seen a picture to where young children are posing with a shot gun and semi-automatic weapons.  The media does send powerful messages in regards to violence, however violence in our school systems is not only due to the media, it is a combination of factors associated with families, indiviuality and socialization in our schools.  Will taking guns out of the hands of the public solve our school violence problem?  NO!  There will always be access to explosives (homemade devices), and other weaponry.  As society evolves, the way people react to violence will evolve with it.  Education and making parents responsible for their childrens actions will be a key player in controlling school violence.  To start with, not allowing our children to have access to guns is a good start!     

Those girls to me look like good little girls who will grow up to be soldiers, police, government agents, good hunters, something posative not little girls who will grow up and shoot kids in their school. You need to remember that good people carry guns too, and all gun controll does is take guns out of the hands of good people because bad people don't aquire guns legally, so why leave the good people defensless, and cause an explotion in the black market that will cause more bad people with more access to guns?

Gun controll is not the problem. Good parenting and stable families is the problem. Violence in the media is not the problem. Promotion of conformaty in the media is the problem.

I agree with HEYNOW in that good parenting and stable families is a problem with gun violence.  Guns don't kill people, people kill people.  However, the access to weapons is extremely important.  Millie talks about the "next school shooting" and I feel that gun control within the "home" is going to keep our kids from having access to guns.  I agree in that we should not and can not take guns away from the good people for the mere fact of self defense.  I am a gun owner and a have a handgun carry permit.  I also keep my weapons locked in a safe with a code that only I know.  My child does not have access to this safe and she is also educated about the danger and safety of weapons.  Again, it is the responsibility of the parents to educate their children and be aware of their childs lifestyles and be involved with their children.  It is hard to control the media, but we can educate our children to a particular well rounded and safe lifestyle.   

In my opinion Americans promote guns too much and they are to readily available to people. Yes images and computer games etc do send an image to young peoplethat guns are OK. But that is reinforced by the culture in America, the other thing that you need to remember is that there wouldnt be school shootings etc if the guns werent so readily available.

Guns were initialy designed to kill people in war, and in my opinion should only be available for use my trained professionals. If no one had guns then everyone wouldnt need to carry guns around town. Which means no guns no school shootings.
