Guitar Amplifiers

I've been playing on an 15w Peavey guitar Amp for a few years and now I wish to upgrade. I really like warm sound and therefore I was disappointed from almost each and every transistor amp I tried at the local guitar store. Until I tried a tube amp, I fell in love with sound and tone.

The thing is that Tube amps are too expensive for me, So I've decided to compromise on an Amp with a tube in the Preamp, and would like to get recommendations.

Thanks.

You have to understand that the one preamp tube is not going to give you the warmth you found on the all tubes amps.

you cant get away if you want great tone. I'm not sure what's your budget and how serious you are about your tone hunt, but you might also consider buying a good solid state amp an use 1st class stomp boxes to get a great tone

As of recommendations, The Marshall AVT50\100 sounds ok.

Thanks for your answer !

As I wrote, I see it as a compromise.

Assuming that I have a 500$ budget, do you think that it's better to go for an 300$ amp and invest 200$ more on stomp boxes?

I've been playing guitar for decades and haven't used a guitar 'amp' in 17 years.  The reason:  most processors today (aside from stomp boxes) have stereo out.  I've used a Digitech GSP 2101 rack mounted multi-tube processor and use powered stereo speakers.  If you use a modern processor today it sounds 1000% better if you play in stereo.  You can also purchase the footpedal and processor on Ebay for a decent price.  The processor use to sell for $1200. but you can now pick one up for around $150.  This processor has tons of preset sounds, but the coolest thing is that you can also create your own 'sounds'....I highly recommend it!

I have to say that this is the most creative suggestion I got so far... I still can't figure out what the processor is connected to? Does a standard Home stereo system would do the trick?

Talking about processors- Any recommendations?

Many thanks.

I strongly suggest looking for a DigiTech 2101 processor on Ebay....it's a really nice tube processor with many options for creating your own sounds.  I'm in the process of putting together a few 'guitar lesson' videos on-line...I'll send you the audio as soon as I get the chance.  Ever work with a guitar 'rack'?  It's perfect for live situations....roll the rack on stage, plug-in, and hand your stereo out chords to who's in charge of sound.  Looking for a BIG SOUND?  This is the way to go.  Plus it's also great for the recording studio when recording 'direct'.  Don't spend a dime on stomp boxes until you look at a stereo tube processor.  I've been playing guitar for MANY years and was blown away when I heard the stereo output of a tube processor.  Good luck in search for that 'sound'!

In regards to processor connections.....guitar to the processor, and the processor (stereo out) to either power speakers (I use Roland MA-8 speakers which are really cheap and great for practicing!)  I don't recommend your stereo speakers as they may not handle the bass end.  Hope my suggestions are helpful.
