Grandparents need to know

both parents are in jail and have agreed to sign custody of the children to their grandparents. What papers need to be filed in court and does there have to be lawyers involved? The children have lived with the grandparents for the last two years.

I think a family lawyer should be involved yes.. Its always a tricky situation when custody is given to somebody and then parents change their minds later on and a big war erupts over the childrens heads, most of the time cuasing serious emotional damage. So yeah a lawyer of some sorts should be involved and it shud be handled the correct legal way according to the child protection and custody laws of the state they live in
