Government Offset
Harold Hester here. I am 75, retired military (1977) and retired from Government (2001) after another 24 year career. I draw military retirement, government retirement plus I am 100% VA disabled (Vietnam). My wife of 50 years passed away two years ago. My SS is $670 - Hers was $1,770. I applied for her SS at her passing and was told because of a government "offset" I did not qualify for her larger SS. Do I qualify? Should I reapply for her SS again?? Please advise. Harold
