High levels of uric acid can cause gout. High purine foods in a diet can increase uric acid levels in the body. Therefore, the gout diet usually limits food with high purine. See a great list of foods to eat and to avoid here.

When gout is actively causing inflammation in a joint (arthritis), all efforts should be directed toward eradicating the inflammation. This generally means resting the joint, ice/cold applications, and anti-inflammatory medications.

Exercising a joint that is already inflamed can prolong the inflammation and cause more pain. Gently moving the joint through its range of motion can sometimes prevent stiffness.

So if your gout is painful and acting up, bowling could aggravate it more.

Good luck and best wishes.

First you have to get medicine that will take the swelling down.  Eating has nothing to do with it.  Its to much uric acid in your system.  Any Dr. can give you the right prescription. I just got over a case of gout and the Dr. told me its not the food. They use to think it was rich food and liquor.
