This was just an experiment for the one of the first version of Google Talk and it doesn't work on the newer versions.
I just did that so that I can view the logs and search on them. The original problem with the first Google Talk clients was that the logs contianed only the last 20 lines of the chat, so it wasn't very useful.
I can look up the code but it wouldn't be very useful.
Regarding your second question, I'm not quite following you on this one. The problem was reading the log files so that everyone can use them and understand them. These log files had a certian format which wasn't very human readable by most people, so that's why I've decided to write this program.
